In the Indian tradition, Shiva or Adiyogi has many forms, each of which represents a powerful opportunity for inner evolution. In the yogic tradition, Shiva is not worshiped as God. He is Adiyogi – the first Yogi, and Adi Guru – the First Guru, from whom all yogic sciences originated. Guru Purnima is celebrated as the day when Adiyogi began the transmission of these sciences to Saptarishi, his first seven disciples. The mantra “Yogeshvaraya” which means “Lord of Yoga”, also known as “Shiva Stotram”, is a musical offering of Adiyoga from Sound of Isha.
